Financial Controller

Our client is an industrial manufacturing company with production plants in the Barcelona area and customers across Europe and beyond. It is part of an international group and has grown steadily over the last few years.

They are looking for a Financial Controller to lead the finance function at site level. You will be responsible for accounting, monthly closing, reporting to the group, budgeting and cost control, working closely with plant management, operations and purchasing.

The role reports to the Finance Director and leads a small accounting team. It is an on-site role, close to the business and the factory floor.

• Lead the monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes and ensure accurate financial statements under Spanish GAAP and group reporting standards.
• Prepare management and group reporting, with clear analysis of variances against budget and forecast.
• Coordinate the annual budget and rolling forecasts with plant management and department heads.
• Own cost accounting and product costing, including inventory valuation and margin analysis by product and customer.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital and investment (capex) projects.
• Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisers and banks.
• Improve internal controls, processes and ERP use in finance.
• Lead and develop the accounting team.

• Degree in Business, Economics or Finance.
• 6+ years of experience in finance, including time in audit and/or as a controller in an industrial company.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
• Solid knowledge of Spanish GAAP; knowledge of IFRS is a plus.
• Experience with group reporting in an international company.
• Advanced Excel and experience with an ERP (SAP or similar).
• Experience leading small teams.
• Fluent Spanish and English.
